 Bryce A. Johnson, M.D.
Spine Surgery
Dr. Johnson is from Minneapolis. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, San Diego’s Revelle College (UCSD) in
chemistry and biochemistry. His medical school education was at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha
honor society. His internship and residency were both at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He
fellowship trained with Steven R. Garfin, MD, at the Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery, UCSD. Dr. Johnson currently serves as the Chief of Orthopedics
at Saddleback Hospital
 Bradley Duc Tran, M.D.
Pain Management
Dr. Tran is an interventional physiatrist focusing on interventional pain management. Dr. Tran is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member and instructor of (ISIS) International Spinal Intervention Society and (NASS) North American Spine.
Society professional societies. Dr. Tran completed his Medical School Training at the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia; internship at the
University of California, Irvine (UCI) and his residency University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He completed his fellowship training
at the Stanford University Medical Center in Interventional Spine.
 Kalle Varav, M.D.
Pain Management
Dr. Varav is a board certified anesthesiologist with fellowship training in pain medicine. He received his MD degree from the medical college
of Pennsylvania and went on to complete a surgical internship as well as an anesthesiology residency at UCLA. He then completed his pain
fellowship at UC Davis and is currently Board Certified by the American Boards of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Interventional Pain Physicians
and is a Fellow of the World Institute of Pain. He was Director of the Anesthesia Pain Program at Kaiser Permanente’s East Bay campus before
relocating to San Diego where he continued in private practice until joining SCOS in the summer of 2009.

broad range of spine conditions in a timely manner. Our close, multidisciplinary approach to these difficult problems has led to improved
