Dear Ms. O’Connor-Breedlove,

My name is Bruce Aird, and I’m writing because, as a former patient of your establishment, I wanted to tell you of the great experiences I’ve had at SCOS. I’ve been a patient twice, in both cases because of fractures sustained in bicycle accidents. In the first accident, I had several fractures to the left radius, and I went through setting, casting, recovery and physical therapy. That was a relatively minor injury with none of the fractures going all the way through the bone. My doctor then was Dr. Kyle Coker , and my therapists were Diane Coker, Danny Lam and Audra (sorry but I cannot remember her surname and couldn’t find it on your website). They were all great, and eventually with their assistance, I achieved full recovery of range of motion and strength.

The second accident was a lot more serious, as it was fractures to the left humerus just beneath the shoulder and to the right radius, both of which resulted in pieces breaking completely off, and requiring surgery. My physician this time was Dr. Ari Youdarian , and he went out of his way to make time to fit in the surgery before he left on vacation. He did both surgeries, and he did a superb job. That put me back in therapy with Diane, Danny and Audra again, and they did their usual fantastic job. Recovery of the wrist is already 100%, and I’m still working on the left shoulder, though no longer with the therapists.

What I wanted to tell you is what a first class operation you have from top to bottom. Your equipment and facility seem to be, if not state-of-the-art, more than adequate to meet most needs. But what makes it special is the people you have in every aspect of the facility, from reception where I was invariably greeted with a smile and a willingness to help that went beyond mere politeness, to radiology, to the nursing staff and everyone else. I watched your staff deal with irate and sometimes unreasonable people in the waiting area, and they always maintained their professionalism and courtesy, even when the patients didn’t really merit that with their behavior. I found myself looking forward to therapy sessions even though they were usually painful and uncomfortable because I liked your staff so much. And I simply cannot say enough good about my three therapists, Audra, Danny and Diane.

So basically, I received superb care, delivered with courtesy and kindness 100% of the time. I am grateful to SCOS for two excellent healing experiences and for all the help they gave me getting my life back on track each time. We are lucky to have your establishment here in Orange County for those times when recovery from injury is called for. Thanks again for everything.

To Dr. Veneziano & Staff

I had knee surgery at the Laguna Woods location on January 7th. I want to acknowledge some of the staff members.

My check-in was with Angie and she was very helpful with my co-pay.

My admitting nurses were Charito & Trent and they were very accommodating & pleasant.

My Procedure nurse was Megan who has a delightful manner. Too bad she is not a regular staff member. (traveler)

My recovery & discharge nurse was Amy who informed me with all my discharge instructions in a very simple easy to understand manner.

My tech assistant was Jenny who is awesome.

Of course the two physicians; anesthesiologist Dr. Cho (who assured me I would not be sick to my stomach) and of course he was right. and Dr. Veneziano, what can I say, I was told he is the best knee surgeon around and I am totally convinced. He expl ained th e surgery as well as what to expect after the surgery.

I was off work less than two weeks and I have had two post-op visits one with Kelsy who is fabulous. I recommend this site to everyone.

Dr. Graham completed an osteotomy on my right leg last June, 2014. The operation was a complete success and my recovery time was less than 3 months (including PT). My right leg/knee and lower back are pain-free and I’m back to my regular activities. I highly recommend Dr. Graham and the entire team at South County Orthopedic Specialists. Kudos to a fine medical establishment and an excellent doctor!

I just wanted to thank Dr. Larry Gersten for taking care of my Hip injury. Dr. Gersten was very supportive, listened to my complaint, took time to go through my MRI and explain everything to me. Dr. Gerstenprescribed just one pill of calcium one a week and in less than six week, I feel I am already back to normal and my hip is already healed. Although I had a similar injury five years ago, but Dr. Gersten was totally different, his experience in his really showed up and I could tell. I definitely recommend Dr. Gersten to anyone looking for a great Dr. Again, I really appreciate your help Dr. and a big Thank you from my kids and family.

I originally saw Dr. Veneziano for knee pain which turned out to be torn cartilage and a severed ACL. A year or two afterwards I went back due to shoulder pain caused by a torn rotator cuff. Both surgeries and recoveries went well and I’d recommend SCOS and Dr. Veneziano to anybody needing orthopedic work. He explained the problem, the options, and what to expect clearly so that I could make informed decisions about the treatment I wanted. The rest of the staff was also unfailingly polite and professional.

“It worked!” is what I said to Dr. Johnson the day after my surgery. I could tell the pain, weakness, and tingling was gone. I felt different and it felt right. I had needed anterior and posterior spinal fusion and disc repair for over 15 years. I kept putting off the surgery until my body finally gave out and I had no choice. I live in Illinois and visit Orange County in the winter. In early 2012, my arthritic right shoulder became much worse and we visited SCOS. Dr. Montgomery did a complete replacement, and since Nov 2012 I have been playing tennis with zero pain. Not only is Dr. Montgomery a magician, but the entire staff is very professional and patient in helping us with our year-long battles with the insurance company. Dr. Mongomery is outstanding! I am a Foot Specialist and perform foot surgery. I suffered with hip pain for years and needed a total hip replacement. I was so fortunate to have Dr. Wrobel as my orthopedic surgeon. My arthroscopic knee surgery was a HUGE success, with next to no pain, which just amazed me and my recovery was beautiful! Dr. Lance Wrobel gave me my life back! I had a total hip replacement and was back to Zumba classes in about 4 months! From the beginning of the process with Manuel and Sonia to the actual surgery and post op care, I believe I got 5 star service. From the minute I arrived at Mission Hospital I was told how great a doc, Dr. Wrobel is with the lowest infection rate and most effective pain management. Each day while in the hospital, nurses, physical therapists, doctors, P.T techs etc. raved about Dr. Wrobel and they told me they wished all their patients went to him. Dr. Johnson For months I suffered with back, hip & leg pain. Dr. Johnson operated (MIS TLIF) on Tuesday morning. That same night I was up walking in the hospital hall. Thursday morning, I came home. Each day since has been better than the one before. Dr. Johnson is a young, dedicated, inspired & aggressive orthopedic surgeon & spine specialist; and a gentle and caring man. Dr. Graham,

Hunter is doing great after the shoulder surgery. He is feeling tremendous! It’s an incredible feeling of relief to a father to see his son being able to have a normal life and enjoy his last two years in high school (just being a normal teenager). Before the surgery, Hunter was unable to use his arm at all without the possibility of dislocating it with each and every forceful extension of his arm. I am not just talking about wrestling either. I later found out from him that things were so bad that he could not throw a ball or swim or even just mess around with his buddies without popping his arm out of place and experiencing a great deal of pain. Of course, he never wanted to tell anyone due to the wrestler mentality. Needless to say, had you and your team not volunteered to assist him on December 21st (a date we will always remember) his life would have been severely altered and in a very negative way. It was not just Hunter who would have impacted. My entire family would have felt his pain AND especially me for having lost his insurance as we lost our jobs over the last 18 months.

So I just wanted to again thank you and your entire team…….. from top to bottom (the other doctors, nurses, front desk people, Kat) . You really changed my son’s life (and mine) in more ways than I can explain on email. It’s one of those things that will end up being one of those critical life lessons for Hunter (and my family) in the way he (we) treat people in the future.

We will never forget you and SCOS.

This is way overdue. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, L4/L5 concern. Dr. Bryce Johnson was my surgeon for a Fusion on March 12, 2012. I, like anyone else with back problems was apprehensive to have the surgery done. Dr. Johnson placed me in a comfort zone and was NEVER pushy about moving forward. It was a decision that I had to make. Dr. Johnson was very professional, caring, and sensitive. With each doctors visit he gave me a great deal of time, answering every question. He had excellent bedside manners and always placing patient care as a priority. From the moment I awoke from surgery I was free of pain. As the saying goes, I got my life back. Without reservation I highly recommend Dr. Johnson.

Dr. Graham took the time to review the MRI, the written report, and performed an exam. He did not agree with the findings of the report and geve a detailed explanation of why. He was knowledgable, gentle and on target with his diagnosis and recommendation.
