Dr. Montgomery grew up in Orange County, California. He graduated from Anaheim High School in the Bicentennial Year of 1976. He completed is undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, and his medical school training at the University of California, Irvine. Continuing his education, he completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Stanford University Hospital located in Stanford, California. Dr. Montgomery received fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery as an “Aufranc Fellow” at the prestigious New England Baptist Hospital in Boston Massachusetts. During that year, Dr. Montgomery received intensive training and hands-on experience working side-by-side with some of the true masters of joint replacement surgery. This prestigious training has allowed him to take on and achieve excellent results in very difficult cases that no other surgeon would touch.
Dr. Montgomery specializes in reconstructive joint replacement surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder, including minimally-invasive surgery, complex revision total joint replacement (very difficult cases), joint preservation surgery, arthroscopic surgery, and osteotomy for joint realignment. He also has special training and expertise in robotic surgery of the hip and knee, allowing even more precision in the joint reconstruction.
Dr. Montgomery also treats patients in his busy orthopedic clinic where he provides extensive non-operative treatment for orthopedic conditions such as injuries and arthritis of the hip, knee and shoulder. Academically, Dr. Montgomery has published scientific contributions in the Orthopedic Literature, and conducted extensive clinical research regarding innovative surgical techniques and optimizing outcomes in joint replacement surgery.
His non-medical interests include biking, skiing, water sports, snorkeling, tennis, music, art, church and community service and others.
